I'm a mom of three very active boys, including identical twins.
I'm an outdoorsy person who loves hiking, travel (I've been to so many places and want to go to so many more), tea, and good chocolate.

Your system needs to match your brain, your business, and your team, not someone else's system, no matter how distinguished they are. The most common reason I see people and businesses fail at organizing and systems is they're trying to fit what they do into someone else's pre-built system. When we work together, I help you build YOUR system based on best practices and science.

When I work too long with a document, my eyes pass over misspelled words or don't question basic assumptions. I appreciate working with an editor who can provide a fresh, outside point of view. In the same way, I believe everyone I work with is brilliant in their own way and more capable than they give themselves credit for. My goal is to provide an educated, experienced, and kind perspective that can see things you might be too close to see yourself.
Why This Matters to Me
From books, to the Navy, to twenty years of technical writing
Ever since I was a young child, I've loved books (mostly fantasy and sci-fi, though also philosophy and religion, history, folk and fairy tales, and romance/romantasy). Mostly I just love learning new things.
When I started college, I was going to be a mechanical engineer like my dad. One of my pre-engineering requirements was technical writing. You mean I could have a career doing both math and science AND reading and writing? Amazing.
Since I was on an ROTC scholarship, when I graduated from college I served in the Navy, including during 9/11. After I got out, I still wanted to make a difference in the world helping others, so I decided to be a teacher and taught high school math and science.
The thing I loved most about teaching was finding the explanation that makes concepts make sense to my students. Everyone can understand basic math and science if someone can explain it to them the right way. However, teaching was a little too intense for me (so much respect to all teachers out there), so I left for the corporate world and being a mom.
I spent over 20 years after that as a technical writer in tech, aerospace, manufacturing, and robotics. My job has always been the same: take complex systems and make them understandable, usable, and repeatable, whether it's for one person or an entire team.
Still, though, I find myself missing something in corporate life. I feel like a small cog in a big wheel. I want to make a difference in the lives of individuals and small teams. That's where the real power to make the world a better place lies.
