4 Steps to Organizing Your Online Files
I believe in my process because it’s tool agnostic and it works for anyone. I literally had a client in February say she’d tried other people’s folder organization names but it didn’t work for her. My process helps people make their own meaning (though I will provide examples for people to use for inspiration as well as encouraging them to make their own).
My process has four steps:
Maintain and Move Forward (rename Content Management?)
Find and Inventory (rename Content Audit?)
Brainstorm and Build (rename Content Map?)
Plan and Migrate (rename Project Management?)

Organize Your Digital Purchases $27
How many courses have you bought but not finished (or even started)? Can you even remember how or where to log in? Here’s how to find those purchases you’ve made (credit card statements, search terms to use in your email, hidden Gmail features) and make a list (templates provided in Airtable, Google Sheets, and Notion). Then be intentional and schedule time to do the course.
Digital Drop Zone $27 (still in work)
Just like you have a “drop zone” when you walk in your house or your kitchen where you drop stuff before putting it away, people have digital drop zones for their ideas and digital files (usually the Downloads folder). Here’s how to designate the drop zone and then make a system to keep it clear so it doesn’t become yet another pile of clutter.
Tame Your Tabs $27
Close tabs in your internet browser. Most tabs are tasks in disguise or references for later. Here’s how to get your tabs under control (use a task list, create a list in any number of tools, organize your bookmark folders, etc.).
Work Shutdown Ritual $27
Things you can do at the end of your work session to make you more productive. (Write tomorrow’s to-do list while it’s still fresh in your mind, process and close your browser tabs, go over tomorrow’s calendar and tasks to make sure you’re prepared, etc.).
My Signature Process: Organize Your Digital Files
All of the workshops above lead to the need to have all your files organized.
- You need a folder file structure to process your Downloads
- You need your files organized because a) your tasks need organized files or b) you’ve now saved a Word doc of links or whatever and you need to find that file again.
- You need to organize the downloads of your digital purchases AND you probably need your files organized to do the things you learn (social media, write blog posts, kickstart your business, etc.)
- You need to know where your files are so you can do work.

- Even if I teach you how to do this for free (and you are plenty competent! even if you don’t think you are), I believe some people will still pay for my help. After all, I can cook a perfectly fine dinner and I still go out to a restaurant occasionally and pay someone to cook for me.
